SO MANY ANIMALS IN NEED
They come to us starving, unwanted, neglected, or when caring owners are sadly no longer able to care for them. Horses, dogs, cats, birds, llamas, mules, sheep, cows and other large animals. Hundreds of them. all in need of special help. Fortunately, they've come to a place where their lives are again filled with hope and love. Animal Rescue Kingdom (A.R.K.), provides permanent residence to over 300 animals. We care for parrots, native and non-native felines (African Lions, Jaguars, Mountain Lions, Bobcats, Caracals), as well as non-releasable native Coyotes, Wolves, squirrel species, and many domestic chickens, sheep, donkeys, goats, and many other Farm animals. Domestic animals such as dogs and cats are also are accepted at our animal sanctuary where we neuter and search to find loving homes for adoption. We take these animals in and provide vet care, feed and grooming care. We work on getting these animals healthy, physically, emotionally & socially. Then adopt them out to loving forever homes. Animals that cannot be adopted out due to special health requirements go through rigorous testing and handling to enable a selected few to enter our hands on therapy programs for terminally ill children and shut ins. All of the animals who call Animal Rescue Kingdom home are non-releasable due to physical or emotional disabilities or are non-native animals who, even if they were able to be returned to their native lands, would have no chance of survival there. A.R.K. permanent residents have been subject to a variety of abusive and neglectful situations. We care for horses who have been starved and beaten to submission, farmed animals rescued from the slaughterhouse, pets who are no longer wanted
Within the sanctuary we have the necessary isolation unit. A building separated into two parts, one for puppies and the other for kittens. Here the utmost care is given to the animals who are giving birth and all the new arrivals. It is a sad fact that when some people realize that their animals are pregnant they can be found dumped outside the Animal Rescue Kingdom Animal Sanctuary gate regardless of the weather - or the busy road outside. We have had animals tied here throughout the cold winter nights - some who were not tied up well enough and escaped onto the road. The animals are often in a bad state of neglect. Sometimes puppies are abandoned at the gates. Many times this has happened but all have been taken good care of, receiving veterinary care where necessary and nursed until they are well again.
Experienced, long-term volunteers have the opportunity to assist the Animal Caretakers in caring for these beautiful animals
Thankfully when there is so much badness and cruelty in the world, there are also so many lovely people to mend the cruelty and repair the shattered animals left behind.
However not all animals that are cared for by the Sanctuary live here. We have around 30 horses out on pastures at our Levy County property. Visits here are by appointment but there are always plenty of horses and ponies available for a hug, kiss or to share a carrot or two along the perimeters of the property.
